I’d been planning to do a couple shoot since the beginning of this year but I hesitated because I wanted a real couple to model for me and I didn’t really know who to ask or where to go.
As you may know, I grew up in Italy so most of my long-term friends are Italian. I met Francesca and Lorenzo when I moved to Rome back in 2006 (or was it 2007? I can’t even remember) and I’ve been friends with them ever since.
They have been together for over 10 years and they are in love as ever, planning their future together. As I had a trip to Rome scheduled in March – before all covid-19 hell broke loose – I thought they would be perfect for the shoot and I was over the moon when they agreed to model for me! Plus, it must be sad, they both have an impeccable sense of style.
I think the happiness and love they have for each other transpires very well in the images and this makes me happy not only because I managed to achieve my vision for this shoot but mostly because the two of them now have images that they will hopefully look back to with joy!
This ‘tropical’ paradise you can admire below is nothing else than Rome’s botanical gardens in the lovely Trastevere neighborhood. I chose this venue because I wanted loads of exotic plants to frame the subjects and give the shoot a funky, colorful vibe to reflect Francesca and Lorenzo’s personalities.
